Host A Hot Chocolate Bar Party

Written By: Girl Tyler

You’re never too old to get chocolate wasted! This idea is not only great for the holidays, but you can also host a gathering well into the New Year, as long as the temps are chilly. Invite the girls, cozy up with the kids, or make it a game night, no matter how you spin it, your tribe deserves to have a sweet time! Dress up the station with a festive tablecloth, string lights, garland, pinecones, and ribbons! This is your mini-winter wonderland. The possibilities are endless. (Use Pinterest as a cheat sheet!) Throw in a few trays, a wooden chalkboard sign, and labels for the toppings.

Toppings

You can’t go wrong here. Put out as many as you want for your guests to make their own tasty creations. Place them inside jars or decorative dishes to match the theme.

  • marshmallows
  • crushed peppermint
  • chocolate syrup
  • m&m's mini chocolate chips
  • toffee bits
  • soft peppermint sticks
  • Pirouette cookies
  • whipped cream
  • pretzel rods
  • sprinkles
  • Hershey kisses
  • Baileys Irish Cream (or any of your favorite spirits will do!--only for the adults, of course!)
  • caramel sauce

Don't forget the spoons and straws! For smaller gatherings, provide holiday-themed mugs. If you have a larger group, use to-go coffee cups for easy clean-up. Don’t forget the napkins!

Give your peeps something to chew on! A tray of holiday cookies will make the table a little jollier.

Now for the main event...THE HOT CHOCOLATE. Ask a million people and you will get a million hot chocolate recipes. Some use cocoa powder, while others opt for water and hot chocolate packets. (No shade if you’re about that instant mix life!) For a rich taste, try using a slow cooker. Combine milk, condensed milk, chocolate chips (or cocoa powder), heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Cover and cook on low for two hours or until the mixture is smooth. (Measure ingredients based on your party size.) Serve and enjoy. Peace, Love, and Cocoa!
