3 Business Books To Add To Your Fall Reading List

Do you aspire to start your own business? If so, this post is for you. While venturing out on your own to achieve your dreams is brave in of itself, becoming a successful business owner is a journey. In recent years, African American women are leading entrepreneurship spike in the economy and are creating successful businesses in a variety of industries. Thank goodness this ongoing economic growth isn’t going to end anytime soon!

This fall is the perfect time to set your business goals in motion or come up with new business goals to tackle next year. Going after a goal can be intimidating but that doesn’t mean you should back down. Check out these business books below to help push you towards greater success.

1.) Originals: How Non-Conformists Move The World–

Adam Grant’s new book is fitting for the aspiring entrepreneur. We know that entrepreneurs take risks. However, Grant explores how they are actually more calculating when doing so. In his book, Grant talks about the importance of originality and the need to encourage other people to be creative as well.

Originals, for example, dive into the creative spirit behind real-life businessmen and women; how they spend time molding and fine-tuning their ideas until they are ready to share them with the world. These kinds of people set themselves apart from the traditional risk-takers we normally think of. These kinds of leaders don’t just pounce on an opportunity. They take their time to get to success.

2.) The Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person

Shondaland is the place to be every Thursday night. But, would you have guessed that Shonda Rhimes, the mastermind behind hit shows like “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Scandal”, and “How to Get Away With Murder”, was fearful? In Rhimes’ memoir, released in 2015, ABC’s executive producer reflects on a year where she pushed herself out of her comfort zone, personally and professionally.

This is a fantastic book for anyone, especially introverts, who dreams of working in the world of entertainment. What I love about this book is that it reminds us that even high achievers still overcome obstacles and that just because you’re successful doesn’t mean that you don’t have fears. Rhimes is all black girl magic.

3.) 50 Billion Dollar Boss: African American Women Sharing Stories of Success in Entrepreneurship and Leadership
