4 Ways to Spruce Up Your Home For Spring

Home

Who else is behind in their spring cleaning? Well, better late than never. Now is the time where we often get rid of the old to make room for the new. We should all be de-cluttering our abode and brainstorming ways to make it look new again. Here are 4 ways that you can spruce up your home for the spring.

Adding Plants

There’s no better way, in my book, to liven up your place then by adding actual life to your home – and by life I am referring to the living, breathing life of plants. Plants adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the ambiance. If you haven’t yet adapted the green thumb and can’t keep a plant alive for more than a week, you can also go the faux plant route. It’ll add the same flair to your home without the extra upkeep on your end.

Hanging Wall Art

Add some pizzaz to your bare walls by hanging a few pieces of artwork. You don’t have to break the bank with this tip by dropping benjamins at an art gallery either. You will be surprised by the pretty amazing canvases that you can find in the Marshalls’, TJ Maxx’s and Ross’ of the world for reasonable prices. You can also take the DIY approach and create some fun, unique artwork with the fam or grab a few black girl inspired prints from the shop.

Rehab Dated Furniture

For many of us, purchasing all new furniture is out of the door and out of our budget. You might be tired of your drab brown couch, but you can’t ditch it just yet for something new. Well don’t fret sis, this is where your creativity comes into play. Dress up your old couch by purchasing a few snazzy accent pillows or a faux fur throw blanket to give it some oomph. If you really want to take it up a notch and are into rehab projects, you can re-purpose the couch by adding complete new fabric. You may also want to try this with dining room chairs, ottomans, and accent chairs to create a whole “new” room.

Scoring Thrifted Finds

The thrift store is a true gem indeed. What’s the saying;another man’s trash, is another man’s treasure?” I’ve scored some really awesome home decor items at my local Goodwill and at various flea markets. From antique lamps, coffee or end tables, and dressers – you never know what you may find that will work perfectly in your space. I snagged a beautiful glass base antique lamp for $12 at a consignment shop that took my living room to a new level.

The key ingredient to all the tips I mentioned is adding color. Adding vibrant color in any area of your home will take it from boring to ooo la la. Don’t be afraid of bright, bold and lively colors to make your home bloom this Spring!
